The Village of Chevy Chase Section 5

Living in Bethesda
Section 5 will join with Martin’s Additions and Section 3 for a Community Shred Event Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A truck will be at Taylor Street and Brookville Road between LaFerme Restaurant and the Brookville Market. Cars should line up on Taylor Street (in Section 3) facing east and you will be waved across Brookville when the truck is ready to take your materials. They will unload your car. Please take care to remove any metal objects (not staples but metal clasps, loose leaf binders, etc.) that would clog and stop the shredding machine. Households are asked to limit their shredding to a five box total.

Established in 1922, Section 5 of the Village of Chevy Chase became an incorporated municipality on June 25, 1982. Section 5 is a small, quiet community of 227 houses and one restaurant. It is a town known for its tree-lined streets, porches, and friendly neighborhood atmosphere.

The section is administered by an elected five-member Town Council, members of which are elected for two (2) year terms of office. Elections take place in the spring at our annual meeting. There is one paid part-time employee, the Town Manager, who acts as a liaison between the Council and residents.

All residents should review the general information for residents, fence ordinance and tree ordinance.

Some Newsletters and Council Minutes are not published on the site. If you need to see Council Minutes that you can't find here, please contact the Town Manager.
