SECTION 5 OF THE VILLAGE OF CHEVY CHASE
COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
Date: February 14, 2017
Place: Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Avenue
Time: 7:30 PM
Present: Chris Richardson, Scott Livingston, Nancy Pines, Greg Chernack, Pat Xeller, and Ashley Kavanaugh
Agenda Item: Greetings and IntroductionsChair Chris Richardson called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance.
Agenda Item: Approval of January Council Meeting MinutesChair Richardson moved that the minutes from the January meeting be approved; there was a second, and the motion passed.
Agenda Item: Resident CommentsThere were no resident comments.
Agenda Item: Monthly Financial ReportThe Town Manager presented an overview of the Town’s current financial status, and entertained questions from the Council.
Agenda Item: Manager’s ReportThe Town Manager noted the Section has recently started working with Joe Toomey, an engineer and building consultant. He will work closely with the Manager in the review of building applications, as well as advise and guide the Council as we begin the upcoming Code revision.
New Section paper telephone directories are at the printer and will be mailed to residents by the end of the week. There were many updates this time, but going forward we plan to print a new one annually.
One Building Permit was issued for 3701 Thornapple. The resident is adding a new bay window.
One tree permit removal was issued for 7404 Brookville. Ironically, this same tree fell during the recent high wind storm. Thankfully, it did not hit anything. However, in this same storm we did have one Section 5 home that suffered extensive damage. A tree from a neighboring property fell into the second floor of the home. The resident was not hurt and is currently staying with family nearby.
The Section has submitted the initial paperwork for the Census project.
There was a discussion of the status of the Purple Line project. No new developments have occurred.
Next week, the Town Manager will join other municipal managers for a meeting with the County Executive Ike Leggett.
AdjournmentChair Richardson adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be held March 14, 2017, at 7:30 PM at the Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Avenue. The Village Hall has handicapped access. Everyone is welcome.
