Agenda Item: Welcome

Chair Chris Richardson called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance.

Agenda Item: Approval of May Council Meeting Minutes

Chair Richardson moved that the minutes from the May meeting be approved; there was a second, and the motion passed.

Agenda Item: Resident Comments

There were no resident comments.

Agenda Item: Financial Report FY 2017

The Town Manager provided the Council members with copies of the financial report for FY 2017 for revenues, expenses, and net income to date. The last large State income tax payment for FY 2017 has not yet been made, but is expected to total close to $100,000.

Agenda Item: Manager’s Report

The Town Manager reported that a scheduled meeting for late May regarding the Interim Capital Crescent Trail had been moved to a later date. She will report back once a new meeting date has been set.

The Manager noted planning is under way for the July 4th event. The Section has contracted with Rocklands Barbeque this year for food. A notice will be sent out to residents in the next few weeks.

There was a discussion regarding traffic on East West Highway and Connecticut Avenue.

The Manager noted that there are several long-term projects scheduled for the summer. The first project is to complete the review of the Building Code. Extensive work has been done over the past year. The hope is to present the new language to the Council at the September meeting.

The Manager will also work in conjunction with Section Building Administrator, Joe Toomey, to develop an infrastructure report that the Council can use to develop a strategic plan for long-term road, sidewalk, curb, and gutter work.

The Manager also plans to start work on a document retention plan for Section 5 that will create an approved document archiving process with the State of Maryland.


Chair Richardson adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be held September 12, 2017, at 7:30 PM at the Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Avenue. The Village Hall has handicapped access. Everyone is welcome.
