Agenda Item: Manager’s Report

-There were no tree permits this month.

-There were two new building permits issued. Both had to do with drainage plans.

-The Manager said that the FY 2021 audit is complete, and that the auditor had officially submitted it to the State of Maryland. We will ask the auditor to come to our January council meeting and present it.

-As previously mentioned WSSC Water is planning a large water main project in our area. It is set to start this spring. WSSC will hold an information meeting on December 1 to discuss the project in more detail. All residents should have received a postcard in the mail alerting them to the meeting. The Section Manager will also remind residents a few days in advance.

-We are still working on finding a replacement for Joe Toomey. He is set to retire at the end of the year. The Manager will keep the Council updated.

-As a follow-up to the discussion about the pedestrian crosswalk on Connecticut Avenue between Williams Lane and Woodbine Street, MCPD confirmed that the actual traffic signal is controlled by the State. They also looked at the collision data on file for the area and said that as of 2017, there have been seven collisions. All of the collisions were vehicle only and did not involve pedestrians. They indicated that they will conduct their street smart campaign in November and hope to include this crosswalk.

Adjournment

Chairman Chernack adjourned the meeting. The next meeting will be held December 14, 2021, at 7:30 P.M. at the Village Hall, 5906 Connecticut Avenue. The Village Hall has handicapped access. Everyone is welcome.
